Saint Intercession/ prayers from Saints

Many protestants preach against Saint intercession :"they can't do anything for you, their dead . A dead man or woman cannot hear your prayers ." Well once again, they fail to read scripture . I am going to go over a few verses in the old and new testament that can help all of you better understand Saint intercession .I will use a couple of old testament verses ,and a couple of New testament verses to help you all better understand the churches teaching on Saint intercession.
The books I will be quoting from in the old testament will be Tobit and 2 Maccabees . And I will be quoting Hebrew and Revelations for the New testament .
When many protestants think of Saints interceding for us , they believe that the church teaches that the saints act on their own account . Lets get one thing straight, saints do not act unless God tells them to act on our behalf . Yes they can pray for us of course .When it comes to doing something for us it is from God's direction . I have pointed out that Mary in Revelations 12, interceded for us when she prevented Jesus from being killed in her womb. I first told you all of this in my Mary "mother of God " blog . If you read that chapter in Revelations you will see that God protected her from the devil (who is the dragon)who went off to wage war on her offspring (us ).Some say that the saints cannot hear our prayers . One would only have to read Paul's letter to the Hebrews chapter 12 verse 1: " ... we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses" . According to Paul , they can hear our prayers after all . Remember whenever I can use Paul's teachings to prove the Church teachings right I will do so. And when you read the book of Revelations chapter 5 verse 8 , you will see that Saints pray for us :" Each of the elders held a harp and gold bowls filled with incense ,which are prayers of the holy ones ." Holy ones means saints . Everyone who goes to heaven is a saint, not just the canonized saints we see in books ,and are remember for their ways of Christ .A good old testament verse in the Bible to uses for Saint intercession and prayers from them is 2 Maccabees chapter 15 verse 12-16 :"What he saw was this, Onias ,the former high priest ,a good and virtuous man, modest in appearance ,gentle in manners ,distinguished in speech ,and trained from childhood in every virtuous practice ,was praying with outstretched arms for the whole Jewish community . " Onias was a high priest who was killed by an enemy .He is here in this verse interceding in prayer for the Jewish people .At this point he was already dead . yet with God's approval he was able to intercede in prayer for the Jews . Now lets see what it says in verse 13-16: "Then in the same way another man appeared ,distinguished by his white hair and dignity ,and with an air about him of extraordinary ,majestic authority . Onias then said of him, "This is God's prophet Jeremiah ,who loves his brethren and fervently prays for his people and their holy city ." Stretching out his right hand ,Jeremiah presented a gold sword to Judas . As he gave it to him he said ."Accept this holy sword as a gift from God ;with you shall crush your adversaries."
Now this group of verses alone confirm Saint intercession . Notice how Jeremiah not only prayed for his people after death but also interceded with God's order ,when he gave the gold sword to Judas and told him it was a gift from God . This book of course not accepted by the protestants .But to justify the books as scripture and to prove them God breathed, take a look at my blog on the deuterocanonical books . Another deuterocanonical book that confirms Saint intercession as scripture , is Tobit . It is a story about Saint intercession .
The Arch angel Raphael , is sent by God to help this woman and this man . The woman was married 7 times and each time on her wedding night, the men were killed by a demon . Tobit is in bad health and prays for death , The woman by the name of Sarah , gets fed up with her situation and prays for death as well . God hears the prayers and send Raphael to intercede for them .Tobit sends his son to bring money back to him from a place he had deposited in . Raphael guided him to where he needed to go. Tobiah ends up marrying Sarah .With Raphael's help, the demon was defeated because he gave Tobiah special instructions on how to defeat the demon . In the end of the books, it is pointed out how the intercession was done from God's approval and orders :"When you did no hesitate to get up and leave your dinner in order to go and bury the dead , I was sent to put you to the test .At the same time ,however ,God commissioned me to heal you and your daughter in law ,Sarah . I am Raphael ,one of the seven angels who enter and serve before the glory of the Lord. "(Tobit 12:13-15) And if you read on to verse 18 ,you see that he confirms, that it was God's instruction that he intercede: " When I came to you it was not out of any favor on my part , but because it was God's will."
So when a protestant tells you that dead people cannot hear you , tell them that people, who go to Heaven , can hear you . Tell them that there is a great cloud of witnesses according to Paul (Hebrews 12:1) with a gold bowl filled with incense with their prayers (Rev 5:8 ) . Tell them that these saints do not act alone , but with God's instruction ( Tobit12:13-15) .Tell them that they can pray for us as well help us with God's instruction ( 2 Macc 15:12-16 ) Now I know you may have a problem with quoting these books , since protestants do not accept them however use the information from my blog on the deuterocanonical books to help you prove them God Breathed.

May God Bless all of you, Frankie

Mary /Mother of God

Mary/ Mother of God
I'm only going to be a second here. Many Protestant denominations would say they have a problem with Mary's title as "mother of God" . Some would also argue that it is not scriptural .And then again, some would say that if you know scripture , then you know that the title"mother of God" is completely appropriate .
Lets turn our pages in the Bible, to Luke chapter 1 verse 43: "And how does this happen to me that the mother of my lord shall come to me ? "This verse right off the bat tells us that she is the mother of God. But lets go a little further .Go to John 19:26-27 : this is Jesus giving Mary to John :"Woman behold your son" "Behold your mother " .This literally did happen however in symbol this is also Mary being given the role of mother of all Christians . Lets take it to Revelations chapter 12 :" A great sign appeared in the sky ,a woman clothed with the sun ,with the moon under her feet ,and on her head a crown of twelve stars .She was with child ...(verse 5) "she gave birth to a son ,a male child , destined to rule all the nations with an iron rod.Her child was caught up to God and his throne.(verse17 ) The dragon became angry with the woman and went off to wage war against the rest of her offspring ,those who keep the commandments and bear witness to Jesus . "Mary is mother to all of us . She is the mother of Jesus the second person in the Trinity . This makes her mother of God . Remember the commandment" Honor thy father and mother" .We honor our mother Mary .She is our mother as well as God's mother .

God Bless all of you, Frankie

Pope Peter /Apostolic succession

Many of you do not understand why we have a Pope . Some of you may even say, "The Pope is just another man made tradition" .What if I told you that it is in scripture ? That's right , indeed it is in scripture . When Jesus was here with his Apostles on earth, He gave them authority to be the leaders of his church on earth. He made Peter their leader . Jesus clearly gave Peter authority to be the leader of his church on earth .Turn to Matthew 16:17 -19 :"Blessed are you ,Simon son of Jonah . For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you , but my heavenly father .And so I say to you,you are Peter ,and upon this rock I will build my church ,and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it .I will give you the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven .Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in Heaven ;and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in Heaven ."Jesus was very clear in talking to Peter in front of the apostles .He appointed Peter as their leader on earth . Now, some may argue that Jesus told all of them in Matthew 18:18 the same thing he told Peter in Matthew 16:17-19 . He did tell them that whatever they bind on earth will be bound in Heaven, and whatever they loose on earth shall be loosed in Heaven . However , he did no tell them he would give them the keys to the kingdom of Heaven, as he did Peter. And he made a point to first tell Peter in front of the other Apostles .He would have only told them one time if he meant for all of his Apostles to lead . Now if you read John 21, he tells Peter :" Feed my lambs.......Feed my sheep".This was Jesus confirming to Peter that he wanted him to be the church leader on earth. And so Peter was the first Pope. Every pope after him is his successor .We have had an unbroken line of popes since 33 AD .We are the only church that can trace Apostolic succession . Peter is seen as the church leader in Acts of the Apostles .He even wrote two letters (1st letter of Peter/2nd letter of Peter )in the New testament that had the words"leader" written all over them. In his first letter, he gives his Presbyters (the first priests) instructions on how to tend to their flocks . He also gives instructions on how to act as a Christian. In his second letter he warns of false teachers who will introduce destructive heresy. He also points out that their is no prophecy of scripture meant for a matter of personal interpretation. He also warns those who are in the faith, that turn away from it , that there will be consequences for those actions from God .Now , Jesus also appointed his apostles to be leaders of the church under Peter .They were the first Bishops .Bishops are successors of the Apostles.Priests are today's presbyters . Now, some of you would say that Jesus did not mean for us to have leaders after Peter, and the apostles .Do you think it make any sense for Jesus to have leaders of his church, for just the rest of the Apostles lives, and just forget about other generations ? If you think about it, it makes sense that we have an unbroken line .Hope you enjoyed the scriptural proof , on the teachings of the pope and Apostolic succession.

The deuterocanonical books of the Bible

As you may or may not know, the protestant bibles contain the same number of books in the Catholic bible, with the exception of 7 books in the old testament . These 7 books are known as the deuterocanonical books .These books are Wisdom,1 and 2 Maccabees,Tobit, parts of Esther and Daniel ,Judith,Sirach and Baruch. There is really one reason why the 7 books are not in protestant bibles. However, protestants maintain that the Jews did not include them in their Hebrew Canon. They claim that since the Jews did not accept them they did not accept them .In 90AD the Jews had the council of Jamnia .They were of course very anti christian and rejecting Christ while deciding the Hebrew Canon . They decided this late canon to counter the Christian faith that was growing .One of the requirements that they claim, was that the books needed to be written in Hebrew.Of course I believe the requirements really meant nothing in this case. They knew that Jesus and his apostles followed the 7 books. Jesus even quoted from these books. These books were studied and read by Christians . The Dead Sea scrolls written in 250 BC confirm that the 7 were indeed written in Hebrew . The Dead Sea scrolls were found in 1947 . They were lost before the protestant reformation .Protestants may have these books in their bibles today if the Dead Sea Scrolls had been found before then . The Protestant reformation began in the 1500s with Martin Luther . He was a priest who disagreed with the teachings of the Church. He pushed the message that we are saved by faith alone . They called this theory "Solo Fide" . Many protestants believe that we are saved by faith alone, and push that message everyday. They have been misguided . The subjects of alms giving,purgatory/prayers for the dead ,and saint intercession are all in the 7 deuterocanonical books .Those subjects are all taught by the Church. They however , conflict with Solo Fide. The protestants may not realize that those teachings are also found in the New testament(If you read my previous blog you will be able to see that purgatory and prayers for the dead are in the New testament).
There are many connection between the 7 Books and the New testament .I will go over some of them here :Turn your Bibles to the book of Sirach chapter 11:18-19 then after reading those verses , turn to Luke 12:18-19. Jesus is refering to Sirach 11:18-19 when he is speaking in Luke 12:18-19. He preached that riches do not matter and should not matter. In The Wisdom of Solomon we see clear prophecy of Jesus Christ .Read Wisdom chapter 2:12-24 .This is direct prophecy of Jesus Christ. Read Wisdom 2:13 and Matthew 27:43 (one after the other)The same message is present in both verses, about Jesus claiming to be son of God and having knowledge of God . Read Wisdom 2:16 and John 5:18 .They have the same message. If you read the rest of chapter 2 you will realize that the prophecy was clear as day.The book of Sirach 11:5 lines up with Luke 1:52.Read Matthew 6:19-21 and Sirach 14:3-16 They both line up the subject of the use of wealth. Since many protestants go by Paul's teachings , I will make some connections: Sirach 3:1-16 involves the subject of duties towards parents .Read Ephesians 6:2-4 and you will find that Paul spread the same message . Read Sirach 3:19 and 1Cor 1:26-29 and will find the same message . Read Romans 3:9 and you will find the same message in Sirach 11:5.
Once again I have showed you that Pauls teachings line up with the Catholic Church . In John 10:22 the Feast of the Dedication is mentioned . The feast of the dedication is known to the Jews as Hanukkah .They celebrate it today. Hanukkah is only mentioned in the 1and 2 Maccabees. The Jews celebrate Hanukkah because it took place in 1and 2 Maccabees . Also prayers for the dead( you will find in my blog on Purgatory/prayers for the dead) are found in 2 Maccabees 12:38-46 as well as in Paul's teachings( 1Corininthians,2 Timothy,1Thessaloninians.)
Many Protestants will give the date of the Council of Trent in 1547, as the day the 7 deuterocanonical books were accepted .In 393 AD , the Council of hippo met.In that meeting it was decided that the 7 deuterocanonical books would be accepted . The Council of Carthage in 397AD and 419AD also confirmed this .The Council of Florance in 1442 and Council of Tent in 1547 also recognized the acceptance of the 7 deuterocanonical books . Pope Clement, who was Pope from 88-97 Ad, quoted from Wisdom 2:24 in chapter 3 of his epistle . He also quoted Judith 8:30 in chapter 55 of his epistle ,he wrote in 90 AD. Polycarp(died 156 AD) quoted from Tobit in his epistle. The Epistle of Barnabas cites Wisdom as scripture. Bishop Iranaeus of Lyon (115AD-202AD)quoted from Baruch as scripture. Its a good thing we cleared that up.I just wanted to point out that the early church fathers did indeed accept the deuterocanonical books . Paul in Acts 17:10-15 visited Beroea where Greeks were .They studied scripture that would have been g the deuterocanonical books as well. They accepted Paul's teachings .Paul knew that they studied scripture and would have told them that they were studying non scriptural books if it were so.
I recommend you all read the deuterocanonical books of the Bible. As you can now see ,the deuterocaonical are scripture . Now, The Protestant Bibles do not have them because they conflict with their teachings not God's teachings .They will say," If we are saved by faith alone , not bound to the commandments ,then there can be no purgatory ,or a need for praying for the dead." You will find those words coming from many scripture protestants . They also don't believe that Saints can pray for us or intercede for us. I will talk about that in another blog soon. almsgiving is not one of their favorite subjects .That would mean doing good things for others such as giving money to those who need it .Of course its all over the New testament .If they accepted these teachings , that would mean that they would have to change their own .But wouldn't they rather do things Gods way then their way?

May God Bless all of you , Frankie

Purgatory /Prayers for the dead

Purgatory
Many protestants have a misconception of purgatory . They believe that since Jesus Christ was crucified for our sins , that we are in the clear . This is not the case . Protestants believe that the Catholic church made these lies up about purgatory, to scare everyone . Many protestants refuse to even look at some of the verses that imply that there is a purgatory . The book of Revelations says in chapter 21 ,verse 27 , that nothing unclean shall enter heaven . 1John 1:6-10 confirms that we are all sinners . When we sin , that sin spots the soul . You just looked at Rev 21:27 , telling us that nothing unclean will enter Heaven . Our souls need to be cleansed by God before entry . Now , Paul teaches us in 1Cor 3:15 that we sinners will be saved, but through the fire.Paul also teaches us in Romans 3:10 , that we are all sinners . Paul teaches us to work out our salvation with fear and trembling in Philippians 2:12 .The Letter To The Hebrews may or may not have been written by Paul .It is in question on whether or not he wrote it ,or one of his co-workers .Hebrews 10:26 tells us that if we sin deliberately , the sacrifice for sins does not remain . I want you all to think about this : In the New testament , Jesus and Apostles of the Bible preach to follow the ten commandments in many books . Now , the commandments were not made to be broken , yet we break them everyday . Jesus would have never preached to follow the commandments if it was not mandatory that we follow them . I don't think that anyone here honestly thinks that it is ok to break these commandments . However, many of us believe that it is ok to sin because Jesus payed the debt . If we break the commandments , we need to confess them to God . However by sinning we still spotted the soul , and in purgatory (which is more like a process of God's cleansing of our souls) God will complete our souls perfection .

Prayers for the dead
To support and prove the Catholic belief on prayers for the dead , I will cite 3 verses .There will be 2 in the New testament and 1 in the old that I will go over : In 2Maccabees 12:38-46 prayers for the dead is evident . listen to what 2Macc 12:46 says: " Thus he made an atonement for the dead that they might be freed from this sin " If I were having a conversation with a Catholic that reads scripture , that is all I would need to talk about . But unfortunately, our protestant brothers and sisters , do not accept 2 Maccabees (I will get into that subject when I talk about the deuterocanonical books of the Bible)However protestants do accept Paul's teachings . Fortunately I was able to find a couple of verses . In 2 Timothy 1:16-18 Paul is praying for his friend and co-worker Onesiphorus . "May the lord grant him to find mercy from the Lord on that day."(2Tim1:18) As you can also see that Paul points out that his friend was a worker for Christ in Ephesus . It was obvious that the man was a Christian . If Paul thought that the man went straight to heaven after dying , then there would not have been a need for him to pray for him . Even though the man was a Christian, Paul was unsure whether or not Onesiphorus went straight to heaven .Paul pointed out that He was a faithful worker for Christ .It seems that Paul is confirming his teaching that we need to work out our salvation with fear and trembling (phil2:12 ) It seems that Onesiphorus worked out his salvation . Paul also expresses his hope for the faithful that have died in 1Thessalonians 4:13-14 ," We do not want you to be unaware , brothers , about those who have fallen asleep , so that you may not grieve like the rest , who have no hope ."I will use Paul's teachings in the Bible on most of my blogs . I have come across many protestants ,who quote from Paul's letters. I quote from Paul's letters to show them that Paul's teachings line up with the Catholic church .
The problem with the belief that it is ok to sin , and that all sin is equal , does not make sense, there are protestant preachers that tell their congregations that stealing a stick of gum is equal to abortion. Now, does that make sense to any of you ?I was learning how to be a side walk counselor (people who hand out information on abortion , attempting to convince people that abortion is not the way to go.)I listened to a tape of a females experience at the abortion clinic , as a side walk counselor . She stated that she used to see preachers driving their congregation members to abortion clinics . Some preachers had given them scripture references to try and justify abortion ."Don't worry about this.Your doing the right thing, the debt is payed." Abortion is another subject I will blog about .My point here is that Protestants believe that as long as your a believer no matter what , you will go to Heaven. I would like you all to look at Matthew 7:21 "Not everyone who says 'Lord , Lord' will enter the kingdom of heaven , but only the one who does the will of my father in Heaven ." Is it the will of his God to deliberately sin because the debt has been paid ? You get my point ? I hope you all enjoyed my blog . I will be making another one soon. It will be on the deuterocanonical books ,and its connections to the New testament . I will go over the history of them . I will tell you the real reasons why the Jews in 90 AD rejected them . I will also tell you why the protestants say they do not accept them ,and why they really don't accept them .

May God Bless all of you , Frankie
